Day 16 Begunje to Bled and Day 17 departure


 Based on rain and sore knees we taxied to Bled, the origin of our hike 15+ days ago.  We rented eBikes (wow are those fabulous) and biked up to a Gorge.  The region had over 5 inches of rain in the preceding days so the water in the gorge was running rampant.  Finished with dinner and an early night to bed. We awoke early on Sunday and went paragliding in nearby Bohinji.  What an experience!!!   

We hopped in a transport van to get back to Bled, caught a bus with 3 minutes to spare, and now await our flight to Warsaw and then on to OHare.  Been an amazing trip.  

Some key takeaways:  

- The Julian alps are magnificent. 

- getting around between towns and villages reasonably easy. 

- people are inherently good, at least in Slovenia. 

- People speak English here which makes travel much easier and more enjoyable.  

- whether you hike, bike, or drive a car this country is worth the trip!! 

- we had several God moments on the trip, like Taxis that magically appeared, Inn keepers in small towns who were ready for us to arrive early or late, a trail and mapping App that kept us from getting lost, etc

Day 13. Kranjska Gora - Mojstrana

 I just think Lasko would be a great dog name, don’t you? I mean just look at that goat face.🥰🥰 Today we decided to bike to our next town as we were able to rent bikes, bike to our next town, and then have the bikes picked up and returned to the rental place. The bike path was in really great shape and it was a great way to still “be on the ground” and really get a feel for the area, just at a faster pace. Amazing how you see an area differently depending on the mode of transportation you take through it. Once we arrived in Mojstrana, our location for tonight, we hiked to a waterfall. It was one of the better ones we have seen. It was a 6 mile hike round trip with a bit extra with elevation up to the waterfall so we still got a few steps in. We are staying at a super cute hostel and the people staying here are from a wide variety of backgrounds and ages. It’s awesome to see so many people doing so much outdoors.
